BTW I think you’re right to emphasize that God is the only entity that creates according to Eriugena. On the other hand his creation is capable and indeed characterized by causality. So I’m not sure how exactly he distinguishes this kind of causality done by His creation from God’s causality. I’m not even sure he would say that God creates ex nihilo since the Fourth Division of Nature is matter, which presumably God fashions into our universe but even this aspect of his cosmology I’m not sure of.

Two final points: the heresy he was accused of was pantheism as opposed to paganism. This is for suggesting deus est natura i.e God = Nature. Finally the name of the book you’re referring to is Periphyseon (i.e About Nature in Greek). I’m not sure if you mentioned this.
